1. Big Bear Farmer’s Market
The Big Bear Farmer’s Market takes a pause each year during the colder months.
This year, it began its operations again in April and will be in full swing come June, with an outdoor market happening rain or shine every Tuesday from 8.30am to 1pm at the Big Bear Convention Center located in the heart of town.
Sample the finest produce from the region and browse the myriad of crafts and artisanal items made by local creators and small businesses. 2. Fishin’ for $50K Trout Tournament 2024
No trip to Big Bear is complete without a fishing trip out onto the lake – with prime trout fishing season typically running from April to June. The lake is also home to other species of fish like catfish, carp and bass. The run covers the San Bernardino National Forest Trails and parts of the Pacific Crest Trail, offering scenic views throughout. There are also different lengths available to cater to runners of all experience levels, including a 7 mile run, a 14 mile run and a 33 mile run.
Even if running is not your thing, you can still participate in the event by hiking, giving you the opportunity to meet new people and experience the warmth of the local community. By participating in the trail run, you’ll also be contributing to a great cause as the event is a fundraiser for the Big Bear Search & Rescue Organization.
4. Wild Bird Walk with Chirp Nature Centre
On the 8th of June, the Chirp Nature Centre will also be organizing a Wild Bird Walk, giving you the opportunity to observe the bird species that are native to the area. On this walk, you’ll be able to explore the valley under the guidance of a local birding expert, making it a great way to spend a morning in nature with the whole family.
